When my heart starts to race or flutter, it can sometimes stop me in my tracks. It’s like my whole day suddenly changes. Fear shows up fast, and even small things feel overwhelming.
Over time, I’ve learned that slowing down is key and I’ve found a few ways to ease both my body and my mind:
👉 Pause and Breathe – I slow down, sit if I can, and take a few deep breaths. Sometimes just giving my body a moment to reset helps.
👉 Check My Pulse – I gently feel my wrist or neck to see how fast or irregular things are. It helps me know if what I’m feeling is more than just anxiety.
👉 Listen to My Body – If I feel dizzy, weak, or “off,” I don’t ignore it. I’ve learned it’s always better to call my doctor than to guess.
👉 Have a Plan – I keep a list of my medications, doctor’s number, and what to do if symptoms don’t ease. It gives me peace of mind.
But the truth is, living with AFib and A-flutter isn’t just about managing the physical side. The emotional toll can be just as heavy. The worry, the “what ifs,” and the constant monitoring it does wear on you.
That’s why I’ve found support systems matter. For me, journaling my symptoms, connecting with others who understand, and simply sharing my story take some of the weight off my shoulders. None of us should have to go through this alone.
Living with #AFib or #A-flutter can feel heavy, but you don’t have to carry it all alone. Every heartbeat tells a story that deserves to be heard.
